The rarest gems and minerals

Benitoite

It is the official symbol of California because it was found near San Benito, where the only large deposit is now located. Benitoite was discovered in the early twentieth century, but it was initially mistaken for a sapphire. Its color is very similar to sapphires, which is why they are confused. It can be from light blue to blue, it can be transparent, and even blue-red. Sometimes benitoite plays in different shades, it depends on the lighting and the angle of view. The crystal itself is transparent and translucent to light. This stone is easy to work with, but an internal defect is common, so it is quite difficult to find a stone suitable for cutting. This handsome man is very rare, so most often he ends up in private collections, and less often in jewelry.
