There are few people who are indifferent to sports. The overwhelming majority not only watch football matches, the Olympic Games, but also zealously support their favorite team. However, few people know about the records, which often remain unbroken. — Physical culture after a while was reborn from simple fun into a serious, large-scale industry. Sport is not only a fight with an opponent, but also a test of one’s own strengths in the fight against difficulties and obstacles. Sometimes this fight leaves an eternal mark on the history of the whole world. This imprint is expressed in setting records, which once again prove the invincible strength of a person’s spirit.

Below is presented a list of the most famous world records in sports:

On July 9, 1988, Gabriela Reinsch set a world record by throwing a disc 76.80 meters. Wayne Gretzky. He set a record in throwing goals, which he scored in one season 92. On November 2, 1986, a truly epoch-making bout took place, after which Mike Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight champion. The boxer was not even 23 years old at that time. Natalia Lisovskaya became the world shot put champion in 1987 when she pushed him 22.63 meters.

On August 30, 1986, the European Athletics Championship took place, at which the Soviet athlete, hammer thrower Yuri Sedykh, launched it at a distance of 86 meters 74 centimeters. At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Florence Griffin-Joyner became the champion of the women’s 100 and 200 meter race. She set an unbeaten record of 10.49 seconds. In addition, the athlete became the winner in the 200 meters race, which she ran in a record 21.34 seconds. American Michael McCastel holds a new world record for the maximum number of pull-ups per day. The athlete pulled up 5804 times in 24 hours. Yarmila Kratokhviliva set the absolute record for running at the World Women’s 800m Championships. She managed to run the distance in the competition in 1983 in just 1.53 minutes. Ana Fidelia Quirog tried to approach her record — 1:54:44 and Pamela Gelimo — 1:54:01. The undivided achievement in high jump among women belongs to the Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova. The athlete in 1987 jumped to a height of 2.09 meters. There were applicants who tried to break the record of the Bulgarian athlete.
