5 secluded islands with virgin nature

In 1704, the Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk, at his own request, was landed on the island of Mas a Tierra. He lived on it for the next 4 years, his story formed the basis of Daniel Defoe’s novel «Robinson Crusoe». If you decide now to follow the example of the sailor and retire on the island, you will have to seriously strain yourself in search of such land: since 1877 people began to live permanently on the island of Mas a Tierra, and after it was renamed Robinson Crusoe Island in 1966, on hordes of tourists rushed to it.

Finding a land where it might not work out, but getting to know the pristine nature and visiting places isolated from civilization is completely feasible. We found 5 islands off the islands, where, even for a couple of hours, you can feel like a real Robinson.

1 Auckland, New Zealand This is a group of islands located south of the South Island of New Zealand. This happened somewhere in the 13-14 century.

2 Ang Thong, Thailand, Almost untouched nature can be found in the Ang Thong archipelago, which is located about 30 km from Koh Samui. It remained untouched until the 40 islands of the archipelago were included in the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park and began to carry tourists.

3 Ball’s Pyramid, Australia The island is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Lord Howe Island. The 562 meter high stone spire is the remnant of an ancient volcano that formed about 7 million years ago. Ball’s Pyramid is considered one of the most stony islands in the world.

4 Coconut Island, Costa Rica A volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean is the most remote and isolated Costa Rica. It is located 523 km from its western coast. This is a 24 sq km piece of wilderness where some of the Jurassic Park scenes were filmed and the pirates hid their treasures. In the preservation of biological diversity and unique nature, the island has been made a nature reserve.

5 Phoenix, Republic of Kiribati All islands, with the exception of the largest island in the Canton archipelago, which is home to 31 people, are uninhabited. Guano has been mined for some time since their discovery in the 19th century. Mamanuca, Fiji The Mamanuca group of islands is considered one of the most popular areas in Fiji. The archipelago consists of 20 islands, and several of them host resorts, but several islands remain uninhabited. This is mainly due to the lack of drinking sources.
